Uncover the Roadblocks

In building your house on the hill, there will undoubtedly be threats from outside (alligators) and hurdles to jump.  The bridge represents the transition period.

It is important to identify all such hurdles and threats before they can become major roadblocks.  There are a number of tools available to help you through this stage.  For example:

The SuccessCare Questionnaire is a diagnostic tool that identifies the different perspectives your team and / or family members have around factors that are important to the continuity of your business. It provides a benchmark of where the shareholders and business are now in terms of the business, succession, retirement planning activity etc.  As it also identifies the areas where the respondents are consistent in their perceptions, it is a valuable tool in identifying the common interest.  On the other hand, it helps to identify differences of opinion and possible conflicts that might impede an eventual transition of ownership and management to the next generation.

We invite you to try The SuccessCare Questionnaire for yourself. Then contact us at 905-682-5789 or info@dscapital.ca to arrange for a customized analysis of your business.

The 3-Circle ModelThe 3-Circle Model examines the perceptions of each of the key players in your business and how these perceptions can impact the current decision-making processes.  It then looks at how the dynamics of the group may change going forward and the impact these changes might have on the impending transition.

At the end of this stage, you have a complete list of all the obstacles to building your house on the hill.  Generally, there are about 15 key concerns that should be addressed.
